About

Who am I?

My name is Julia.

I love Biomedical Visualization. What is Biomedical Visualization? Well it can be called Medical Illustration and traditionally involved drawing pictures and illustrations for textbooks, journal articles, etc. Now almost everything is done on the computer and it incorporates any type of media;  animation, interactive multimedia, virtual reality, augmented reality, and stereographic 3D.

I earned my M.S. from the University of Illinois at Chicago in Biomedical Visualization, one of 4 accredited programs for medical illustration in the United States. Click here to check out my Graduate Project Research

I earned my B.S. from the University of Arizona in Physiological Sciences.  Physiology is the study of how your body and cells work. I took almost every science class imaginable and ended up with a minor in Chemistry. I also minored in Studio Art.

My current area of interest is working with proteins and molecules in 3D animation and models. I like working with 3D, be it prosthetics, or in the computer with programs such as 3ds max, Maya, Cinema 4D and ZBrush. This 3D medium always presents challenging new problems to solve.
